Our verdict
DEV Community is one of the strongest domains you can get a listing on (DR 91). We haven't confirmed whether its listing links are dofollow yet.
Best for Developer tools and open-source projects whose founders can write a technical build story for other developers, rather than a sales pitch.
About DEV Community
DEV describes itself as "a community of software developers getting together to help one another out" and "a place where coders share, stay up-to-date and grow their careers". Members publish posts grouped by tags, and the #showdev tag is "For showing off projects and launching products".
What a listing gets you
- A post on your public DEV profile, written in a Markdown editor with tags, cover image, embeds and scheduling
- A place in the feeds of the tags you choose, such as #showdev
- A canonical URL setting and RSS import, so you can cross-post from your own blog
- Per-post analytics in your dashboard
Pricing, timing and links
- Links
- Links inside the posts we checked had no nofollow, but some brand-new posts with no reactions carry a page-wide noindex, nofollow tag, and links in comments are nofollow.
Before you submit
- Terms: content must be "on-topic, of high-quality, and is not designed primarily for the purposes of promotion or creating backlinks"
- #showdev guidelines: "Please make posts community-driven and not overly corporate or salesy"
- Affiliate links must be clearly disclosed
- The Code of Conduct requires "disclosing AI assistance if used to create content", and the AI guidelines say AI-assisted articles should not "Promote any business, program, or course (including your own)"
- Posting mainly to build backlinks for another site can lead to suspension or a ban, with an exception for personal blogs or company blogs shared under official organization accounts
- Submissions openYES
How to get approved
- Tag launch posts #showdev and frame them around what you built and how, since the tag asks for posts that are not "overly corporate or salesy".
- If you cross-post from your own blog, set the canonical URL in the post settings, as DEV's help pages explain.
- If AI helped write the post, say so, and don't use an AI-assisted post to promote your own product.
- If your company blog is the source, share it through an official organization account, which DEV names as an exception to its backlink rule.
